If getting back to nature is your thing, the Manning Valley offers 9 stunning National Parks and reserves, 45 kilometres of pristine coastline and the only double delta river system in Australia with two entrances to the ocean. This rugged natural environment was made for adventure with endless walking trails, mountain bike tracks, rapids, waterfalls, beaches, lookouts, fishing and more.

The great outdoors might be our biggest draw-card, but our 26 seaside and hinterland towns a villages are equally impressive and waiting to welcome you. Each town comes with its own unique vibe and offerings, from cute cafes and farmer’s markets to quirky festivals and vintage shops, we’re certain you’ll find something you love about each one.

The Manning Valley also features a wide variety of cultural and creative attractions. From quaint tea houses selling local crafts to galleries showcasing award-winning artists and entertainment venues, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy.

Brimbin Nature Reserve

Brimbin Nature Reserve is located approximately 12km North West of Taree and an easy 20 minutes drive from town.

Brimbin Nature Reserve has important historic connections with Taree and Port Macquarie’s early settlement being situated on the original main road between the two centres in the days of horse-drawn transport. This area is also significant to the local Biripi people. The name “Brimbin” is an Aboriginal word derived from “Borembit” or stringybark, a tree species common in the reserve.

Brimbin is home to an endangered species of eucalypt, the narrow leaved redgum, Eucalyptus seeana, which occurs at its southern limit in the Taree area.… continue reading.

Coocumbac Island Nature Reserve

Coocumbac Island is a small island next to the Martin Bridge in the Manning River at Taree is the site of a major rainforest regeneration program.

Cundletown Markets

Cundletown Markets are held bi-monthly on the 2nd Sunday of odd months at the Cundletown Community Garden, Main Street, Cundletown. A friendly little market, where you can find treasures, plants, home made goods, coffee and more. Fresh produce is available straight from the garden too.

Come for a visit. There is often activities for the kids too.

The Manning Entertainment Centre presents the best performing arts and entertainment on the Mid North Coast. The Hub Market

The Hub Market is held at the Taree Showground every 3rd Saturday of the month. This is the biggest market in Taree and surrounds, and has both outdoor and undercover areas.

At the Hub Market you will discover pre-loved books, fresh produce, plants and seedlings, homemade jam and gingerbread, bric-a-brac and food stalls.

The Markets are organised by the Lions Club of Manning River Inc. All funds raised go to Lions Foundations, charitable organisations and local groups.

Manning Valley Libraries includes five libraries across the Manning Valley at Taree, Wingham, Hallidays Point, Harrington and Old Bar. Our libraries are the ‘community lounge room’ – so when you visit one of our libraries you can browse for a book or DVD, lounge around in our comfy chairs and read a magazine or use the wi-fi or a computer. You can enjoy a wide range of regular and school holiday events and workshops. We have an extensive local history and family history archive of documents, images and printed resources – so why not look up an ancestor while you are visiting. We also have ‘print from anywhere’ facilities where you can print from your PC or mobile device to a library printer. Our libraries are open weekdays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Taree Library is open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays.
